From the name, it can be intuitively judged that the fundamental difference between DC charging piles and AC charging piles lies in the type of current they use. DC charging stations, as the name suggests, use direct current (DC), which means that the direction of the current remains constant during the charging process, enabling efficient conversion and fast charging of electrical energy. In contrast, AC charging stations use alternating current (AC) with periodic changes in current direction, which needs to be converted into direct current through the built-in rectifier of the electric vehicle before charging the battery. This process is relatively slow.

It is precisely due to the differences in current properties that DC charging stations exhibit significant advantages in charging speed. DC fast charging technology can directly deliver high voltage and high current DC power to the battery, greatly reducing charging time. For users who urgently need to replenish their battery, it is undoubtedly the best choice. Generally speaking, DC charging stations can charge electric vehicles to around 80% of their capacity within half an hour to an hour, greatly improving charging efficiency. However, AC charging stations require a conversion from AC to DC during the charging process, and due to considerations of protecting battery life, the charging current is relatively small. Therefore, the charging time is relatively long, usually taking several hours to complete a complete charge, making them more suitable for use at night or during long-term parking.
